A Word from Pastor Dan

Greetings from your new Interim Pastor! Avonell and I can not express how thrilled we are to be called of God to serve as your Interim Pastor through this very important process of seeking God for the permanent Shepherd He has for you. We look forward to getting to know all of you and becoming a part of your warm fellowship. Thank you for the kindness you have already shown to us in our short time with you.

It can be a scary time for a church when they find themselves for whatever reason to be without a Pastor. In your case, being blessed with the same Pastor for some 19 years makes it even more dramatic. It is in times such as this that we have the opportunity to increase our faith and trust in our Lord. In reality, you have only lost your under shepherd as the Lord Jesus will continue to be your Shepherd.

In John 10:11 Jesus is the “good” Shepherd
In Hebrews 13:20 Jesus is the “great” Shepherd
In 1 Peter 5:4 Jesus is the “chief” Shepherd

The church is very special to our Lord. It is His bride. He loves His church so much that He died for us! He says that He will build His church and the gates of Hell can not prevail against it. Then one day He is coming back for His bride, the church. So we know that even without a permanent under shepherd, the Lord Jesus will take care of His church! We are His sheep and He is our Shepherd.

I believe God’s work for me as your Interim Pastor is to help prepare your church for your next Pastor. Let’s purpose in our hearts and pray to God that He will guide and strengthen each area of ministry at The Fellowship. Let’s pray for God’s wisdom for the Pastor Search Team and all other positions of leadership. Then let us not only pray but work to maintain the unity and health of the body. The unity of spirit is so important to not only sustain the church but to grow it during this interim period.

Our goal should remain simple:

“Tell people how to get to heaven with the good news of Jesus Christ and to help those who are on their way to enjoy the trip!”

In His Service,

Pastor Dan
