A Word from Pastor Dan

As I write this note to you this morning Avonell and I are in Logan, West Virginia, our hometown. We both grew up here in a small coal mining community that has not changed much over the years. Today we will attend a family reunion with Avonell’s family. Over the weekend we were with my family and had a great time together. We spent a morning reminiscing about our childhood and thanking God for our parents who are now in heaven. I got to hear my older brother, who was saved only 2 years ago, pray out loud for the first time in our circle as we all held hands and thanked God for our parents. What a blessing!

I pray that each of you had a blessed Memorial Day and had the opportunity to remember all that God has done for us in the past.

On Sunday we attended church with my brother Tom and was invited to preach the next time we visit there. We missed being with you on Sunday and prayed for your service and the visiting speaker.

We look forward to our return to Texas next weekend. There is much going on at the Fellowship in the days ahead. Please use the prayer schedule to pray for our Missions team and their trip to Kentucky in the weeks ahead. Also pray for our Vacation Bible School that God would provide the workers and teachers needed to make our VBS successful.

We have 19 students who are preparing to go to camp along with adult chaperones. Let’s pray for their safety and that the camp experience would be a giant step in their spiritual maturity.

I am excited to continue our series from the book of Revelation upon my return to the pulpit on Sunday, June 10. We will first look at John’s record of seeing Jesus in all His glory in Chapter 1. Then we will study the 7 letters to the 7 churches in Chapters 2 and 3.

As we prepare to look at those seven churches, please ask yourself this question:

“What kind of church would my church be, if everyone in it was just like me?”

May this study of the churches cause us not only to look deeply at our church as a body, but to look inside of each of us individually and ask what can I do God to make our church the kind of church You want it to be?

Let’s not forget our mission: “Tell others how to get to Heaven with the good news of Jesus Christ, and to help those who are on their way to enjoy the trip!”

In His Service,

Pastor Dan
