A Word from Pastor Dan

December will be arriving in a few days and we will find ourselves in the middle of what is called “the holiday rush”. Let me encourage you to not miss the real meaning of Christmas by getting caught up in the rush of the world. Dr Ed Young of 2nd Baptist Houston put it this way:

“JUST OVER 2000 YEARS AGO OUR GOD WALKED DOWN THE STEPS OF HEAVEN WITH A BABY IN HIS ARMS. AND THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING!”

IN A WORLD OF HOPELESSNESS, HE BROUGHT ETERNAL HOPE IN CHRIST JESUS, IN A WORLD OF SOMETIMES OVERWHELMING FEAR, HE BROUGHT INFINITE PEACE AND JOY, AND IN A WORLD OF DARKNESS, HE BROUGHT TRUE LIGHT

BILLY GRAHAM OBSERVED, “CHRISTMAS IS THE CELEBRATION OF THE EVENT THAT SET HEAVEN TO SINGING, AN EVENT THAT GAVE THE STARS OF THE NIGHT SKY A NEW BRILLIANCE!”

SO, LET US REJOICE AND JOIN IN THIS CELEBRATION OF GOD’S MOST GLORIOUS GIFT; A BABY BORN IN A MANGER, A BABY WHO WOULD CHANGE THE WORLD FOREVER.

There are many ways to celebrate this glorious event. At our church we will be hosting the A.D. Players from Houston on Sunday evening, December 2 at 6PM. They will be doing a play entitled “The Littleboro Valley Story.” It is a story of just how far a Texas grandma will go to save Christmas! The church is bearing the cost of this program so we can offer it to the folks of our community as a gift from us. This is an awesome opportunity for you to invite friends and neighbors to come and it is all free. There will be many more opportunities to celebrate the birth of our Savior during the month at our church. Please listen and watch for all announcements about upcoming events throughout the month.

Let me again remind you of our Bible study and prayer time that we have instituted on Wednesday nights. We first gather in our Fellowship Hall for a family meal at 6PM (which is free) and then meet in the sanctuary at 7PM for a time of worship/praise and prayer. We then continue our journey through the book of Revelation. Last Wednesday night in Chapter 4 we got a glimpse of the Throne Room in Heaven with God on His throne. Please come and join us for a time of prayer and then a journey through the prophecy of things to come.

For our young adults who have already graduated from high school I want you to know that we are working to start a Sunday School class for you in early 2019. I plan to facilitate this class in the beginning and am currently previewing material to use. We will probably follow a DVD format where we watch a session by a well-known bible teacher and follow it with discussion within our class.

The month of December also reminds us that the year is ending and 2019 is just around the corner. As we look to the new year, we want to continue to pray that God will meet all the needs of the Fellowship and that He will provide our church with the Shepherd He has for us to lead and feed this flock.

Avonell and I are praying that your holidays will be blessed as you enjoy time with friends, family and celebrate the birth of Jesus and all that means to us and for us. Pastor Dan
