MISSION TRIP 2017 Our mission trip this year will be to Jackson, Tennessee, June 10-17.
“Letting our light shine in Jackson”
The team will leave the church early Saturday morning (5 am) for the 11-hour drive to Jackson, TN. We have, at last count, 19 committed to serving. We are thankful to so many of you for your prayer support (orange daily prayer guide), casseroles and food, and encouragement and help in general. The mission trip truly is a Fellowship family ministry.
Our days will be full. We will conduct VBS in the morning at FBC Gadsden, TN. Then we will lead a backyard Bible club in the Hillcrest community of Jackson every afternoon, and follow that by leading VBS at Parkview BC. We don’t have any idea of the number of kids we will have. Both of the churches have seen their numbers drop in the past few years, but the harvest is plentiful. We also see this as an opportunity to encourage the two churches. Pray for our team: strength, wisdom, compassion, humility. Pray we will be faithful in sharing the Good News. Pray we will deny self, seek to know and do God’s will, and totally surrender to Him. May nothing personal or self-serving matter to each of us and interfere with our successfully completing the mission. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
We are thankful and humbled that God has opened the door for us to minister and share the gospel in Jackson, Tennessee this year.
Please pray daily for the following:
*First Baptist Gadsden for revival.
For the people in Gadsden to know God’s love and to turn back to Him.
The church was much larger some years ago and today is very small.
They have not had a VBS in perhaps 5-10 years.
This is a great opportunity for us to conduct VBS every morning and encourage this small congregation.
*Parkview Baptist church in Jackson.
Formerly ran 150+ on Sunday, but these days fewer than 50.
Pray for revival, that they see the world around them through the eyes of Christ.
Pray they ‘look out’ and not ‘look in’.
We will help them with their VBS each evening.
*RIFA (regional interfaith agency) ministers to people in Jackson through children’s programs, a daily soup kitchen, food and clothing ministry, and other things as well. We will host a Backyard Bible Club every afternoon for children (30-40 est), will help in the soup kitchen, and possibly small construction and repair projects, and maintenance work.
Pray we will be effective in the various areas of ministry.
*Safe travel, wisdom, strength to persevere, and spiritual growth especially for any who have not surrendered their life to the Lord. Pray we will truly be salt and light in Jackson.
