Tonight, there will be no regularly scheduled Bible Study at the Fellowship, instead we’ll have a short devotional, as we will be packing the Project Hope care bags to be delivered this Saturday, November 16. Those planning to help with delivering the bags should meet at the church at 9:30 am this Saturday morning when we’ll travel to downtown Houston to distribute them to the homeless.

Jackson Huynh and Family

Jackson and his wife Joy have been passionate about serving the Lord in ministry for as long as they have known one another.  When they first met at Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, Florida in 2001, they began to serve together doing beach ministry every Friday evenings and working with the church’s youth group and college ministry.  They were very involved in an intercity bus ministry called Kids World Outreach that reached out to inner city and at-risk children and bussed in over 150 children each week. Over time, Jackson was given the privilege of leading the ministry as director.  They soon were married and have just celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary.  Jackson and Joy have been blessed with four amazing children; Riley 12, Joel 10, Hannah 8, and Catherine 5.

Jackson attended the University of South Florida for his undergrad degree and went on to receive a Master’s degree with honors in Clinical Social Work.  He was hired right away by John’s Hopkins’ All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida where he had the privilege to work with children who were diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.  Feeling a strong call to ministry, Jackson and his family then moved to Fort Worth where he attended Southwestern Theological Seminary and studied to receive his Masters in Divinity.  While in seminary, Jackson was employed by Harris Methodist Hospital as a chaplain for the Emergency Room, Oncology and Palliative Care Unit.  Currently, he is employed at Texas Children’s Hospital at the Medical Center where he has worked at as a lead clinical social worker with pediatric patients diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma and histiocytosis. He worked with families through very difficult times in their lives. He later served as a supervisor and now works as a manager of the Social Work department.

Jackson and his family have attended Houston’s First Baptist Church – Cypress for the past seven years where he has taught an adult Bible study class, a third grade children’s class, and is currently the lead teacher for the college ministry.  Jackson is passionate about teaching God’s word and sharing the message of hope we have in Christ.
