In the Student Ministry, we have been looking into the subject of God’s glory. God’s glory is one of those “church” words students think they understand until they actually try to define it. Then, they realize they really don’t have a good grasp on what God’s glory is. Over the course of this study, our hope is that the students will come to understand that God’s glory speaks primarily to the honor and awe due to God simply for who He is, the role Jesus played in physically demonstrating God’s glory on this earth, and that God is given glory as our students live out their everyday lives, especially during tough times.

Another awesome thing to note is that we have 20 spots reserved for camp this year. We will be going to Pineywoods Camp from Monday, July 23rd to Friday, July 27th. The cost is $265.

Deposits and Registration Information Forms are due in MARCH!

Sign up for Disciple Now, which will be from March 16th to 17th, has also started and medical release forms have been sent home with the students. On a side note, parents please take the time to read over the paperwork your students are bringing home to you. Many times they list off the exact things your students will need for the activity we are doing. Also, some of our activities require that students have a current medical release form on file. I do not want to have to send any students home for not having what they need.

LADIES… For the work day on March 24 we’ll be providing a light breakfast and lunch and in addition to this you’re invited hang around and help with the sprucing up. The plan is to do a little clean up in kitchen and back pantry… and a lot of FELLOWSHIP! I’m looking forward to seeing you on the 24th as we spend some time together as a family in service to our loving Father God. m

BUILDING & GROUNDS We will be having a work day at the church on Saturday, March 24 at 8am to spruce up a bit for Easter. (Ladies are invited too) As always, if you feel lead to serve with the Building & Grounds Team please tell Gary, Oscar, Wendell, Jim or myself (Darren) that you’re interested and we will be happy to let you know what we have going on. If fixing stuff and getting dirty isn’t your thing, and you haven’t found an area where you think you might fit in, I encourage you to just jump in and serve in one of our several ministries. If you find that a particular ministry isn’t for you, get involved in another one. There is a place for everyone in the body to serve. It’s amazing how the Spirit can move through a faithful servant that is nothing more than willing. Matthew 9:37-38

Mission Trip 2018

Plans are under way for MT 2018, we are currently seeking as to where the Lord would have us to serve this year. We are not exactly sure what our work will include but most likely be very similar to past trips. It is quite possible that we will leave the church on Saturday June 16 and return on Sunday, June 24.

At this time we are looking to get an idea as to how many we will have going. If you intend to be a member of the team, or are considering it please pick up one of the forms from the foyer or see Maudell to get one, just fill it out and return it to the office before March 4. Youth must have their parent’s signature as well. Thank you to all who have responded already, we are looking forward to serving with you.

Please be in prayer for those who are seeking the Lord’s will as to where we will serve this year, and those who have already committed to the mission. As you do so please give prayerful consideration as to how the Lord would have you to serve with us.

“We must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action.” (1 John 3:18) John provides the essence of a life on mission; it’s the calling for all followers of Christ. Sculpted in God’s image, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to boldly share the gospel so that others will know His love. No matter where we are or what our stage of life may be, God is calling us to be His advocates through praying, giving and going. With over 269 million people in North America who do not know Jesus Christ, we must urgently pursue God’s plan to be on mission here and now. Our prayers and support make it possible for the North American Mission Board (NAMB) to train, resource & send more than 5000 missionaries who share the good news of Christ. They are putting John’s words into action with our help. Prayer guides for Week of Prayer, March 4-11 & offering envelopes will be available throughout this month.

During my time at this church, I have noticed a passionate heart for the young people here and in our community. One place this passion was most evident was in the lives of Pastor
John and Shirley. They both made great sacrifices for these students, many that went unseen, and their involvement in the lives of these students has had a great impact. I pray this passion that they helped instill will always be characteristic of this church. As we move forward, it will take many to fill their shoes. For the student ministry to continue to be successful, it will take an entire church that is passionate about teaching these students what it means to have a relationship with God and how to grow that relationship. This does not mean each person must work directly with students but that the body as a whole will make an intentional effort to care for these students. This can happen in a variety of ways such as: Taking time to talk to them, taking time to listen them, encouraging them, making an effort to include them and, most importantly, praying for them. I know that a lot of these things many of you already do, so thank you and keep up the good work. On another note, in the upcoming months, we have several student activities in the works. However, we are still working through many of the dates and details so I will pass them along as soon as possible.

Update from Paul Ingold

Update from Paul Ingold, one of our foreign missionaries that visited the Fellowship a few years back. Paul said I could share his update with the Fellowship:

“I am going to India on the 4th of February (until the 25) praying, for great contacts with those who will be using the New Hindi Bible to share their faith and disciple others (mainly Hindus) . Also we will be finishing details on the translation, getting it on an app with audio also.

My wife, Nancy’s health has taken a dip — she had to go back on Prednisone, but not as serious as before. Our son Jeremy is now in the wait for a kidney transplant. Please pray for a living donor. He is also looking for work in Southern California and has decided he wants to go to CBU in the fall This is a miracle, because about 4 months ago we realized part of his learning problems were due to irlen syndrome, he has got special glasses that have helped him and boosted his confidence. Other two children Joanna and Micah are doing fine at CBU. We are set to go back to Canada April 1st.”
