If you have a prayer request, you may submit your name and prayer request via this site (be only as specific as you want). Your particular need may be spiritual, health related, financial or for a family member or friend. We have a Prayer Chain, comprised of a group of Prayer Warriors, who pray individually as they are called, then call the next Prayer Warrior on the list and so on until the chain is complete. In a short time frame, you or your loved one has had a number of prayers said on your behalf. We would also appreciate your letting us know when our prayers have been answered. Praise prayers are an important part of our daily prayers.

This website sends all submitted prayer requests directly to the prayer chain coordinator.

Frieda Fereday
April 21, 1924-October 13, 2018
Memorial service to be held Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 10:30am at the Fellowship at Field Store.

Frieda Fereday was born in Austin, Texas April 21, 1924, and went home to be with the Lord at the age of 94 years young on October 13, 2018.

While in high school Frieda worked for Lammes Candy store in Austin. After High School, she married Charles Clifford Mitchell and had two sons. After Clifford was discharged from the Army/Air Force they lived in Austin for a few years until they moved to Houston and later divorced.

After divorcing Clifford Mitchell in 1953 Frieda went to work for Weingarten’s Grocery stores in Houston and Pasadena as a meat wrapper where she was employed for over 15 years. Frieda worked hard to support her two sons while also caring for her mother who lived with them until her passing in 1967. For several years Frieda would walk to the bus stop to get to and from work. Her son Vance, who had a paper route, would meet her at the bus stop on shopping day to help bring the groceries home in the newspaper bags on his bike. Several years later, she was able to buy a car.

In the early 1960’s Frieda met Boydie “POP” Fereday Sr., who had recently divorced, and they began dating. Pop, had one son (Boydie Fereday Jr.), who had just graduated from Dental School and married his wife Bette. Prior to meeting Frieda, Pop had purchased property in Oklahoma.

After a while Pop and Frieda were married and in 1967 they moved to Oklahoma where they built a home, raised cattle, grew grapes and made wine. Frieda also served as an Assistant Post Master in Snow, Oklahoma. Whenever possible the kids and grandkids would go to Oklahoma, “The Ranch”, for family time, summer vacations and special holidays. The two families became very close and even today, we are and always will be “family”.

After Pop’s death Frieda moved back to Texas to be close to her sister, Emma. Her son Vance and his wife Carole purchased some land near Waller/Hempstead and built the home she lived in until her passing. After her move she took a part time position at Prairie View College assisting in registering students. This part time job wound up lasting until her retirement, many years later. Frieda was an artist; she enjoyed painting and as a young girl Frieda’s mother had taught her the art of quilting however, for many years as a single parent there wasn’t a lot of time for this. While living in Oklahoma Frieda joined a Quilting Guild. Over her lifetime Frieda made many quilts and her passion for quilting remained strong until shortly before her passing. Frieda was a long time member of Waller Baptist church, where she dearly loved her Sunday School class, and was active in the life of the church. In her later years she moved membership to the Fellowship at Field Store where she was a faithful and encouraging presence, it was a privilege to call her a Sister in Christ. Frieda loved the years she spent in the area and will be dearly missed by both her family and the many friends she leaves behind.

Frieda is preceded in death by her parents Fannie and William Ebner, husband Boydie “POP” Fereday brother William Ebner, sister Emma Doyle, and step-son Boydie Fereday, Jr.

Frieda is survived by her sister Francis Edwards of Houston, TX and sister Betty Grantham and husband Joe of Tucson AZ. Son Vance Mitchell and wife Carole, of Pasadena TX, Son Dale Mitchell and wife Scottie of Memphis, TN, Boydie Jr’s wife Bette, and many grand and great grandchildren.

Seems we have 3 things working against us tonight: possibility of strong storms (rain, high wind, large hail, possible tornadoes), reduced numbers due to Halloween, and my struggle with the persistent cough (back in touch with my Dr today) Wendell and I have decided to cancel services tonight. Please communicate this to everyone you can think of who may be planning on coming tonight. Thanks! Pastor Dan
